Classroom Management is the most important aspect of teaching. Having poor classroom management will leave a class in shambles. A good teacher creates a disciplined, safe learning environment for his or her students, while simultaneously encouraging each student to participate and fostering students’ creativity.
Below, are several tips for effective classroom management:
1. Develop a set of written expectations.
2. Be consistent.
3. Be patient with students.
4. Call parents early and often.
5. Break each class period into 2 or 3 different activities.
6. Begin at the very beginning of each class and end at the very end.
7. Keep all students actively involved.
8. Discipline individual students quietly and privately.
9. Know when to ask for help.
